Mexico Enforces Strict Anti-Tobacco Law, Banning Smoking in Public Spaces
New Regulations Aim to Improve Public Health
Mexico has implemented one of the world's strictest anti-tobacco laws, imposing a comprehensive ban on smoking in public spaces. Effective January 15, 2023, the new regulations prohibit smoking in the following situations:
- Indoor public spaces, including workplaces, schools, hospitals, and shopping malls
- Outdoor public spaces, such as parks, beaches, and public transportation stops
- Vaping and the use of electronic cigarettes
