Fernando Andrés Sabag Montiel Named as Alleged Perpetrator
Buenos Aires, ARG. - Authorities have indicted Fernando Andrés Sabag Montiel, a 35-year-old Brazilian-born man with Argentine citizenship, in the attempted assassination of Argentina's Vice President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.
On September 1, Sabag Montiel allegedly approached Kirchner outside her home and pointed a gun at her head. The gun reportedly failed to fire, and Sabag Montiel was apprehended by security personnel.
Sabag Montiel has been charged with attempted murder. He is currently in police custody and is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on Friday. The motive for the attack is still under investigation.
